April 11, 1942

Dear Folks,

I have moved to a different barracks again and am quite aways away from the lake. We have had to work real hard to clean the place up and we just had inspection today. We passed the inspection ok. We had another shot Friday. We have our shots each Friday and yesterday was the second one. The first Friday we had 2 shots, 1 shot and a vaccination, and yesterday we had one shot. I was sick each time having a slight fever and feeling so weak that I could hardly move around. Several fellas fainted. I just received your package and like it very much. I started this letter a little while ago and was called out to march over to the other side of the station to get our raincoats. It is pretty cold here right along. The first few days I was here it snowed.

That insurance must be taken care of at home. The other fella had the same thing and they got a letter from home too. I guess it takes a little while to go through. Well I haven’t much time so I will sign off.

With love,

Erwin Holmquist

P.S. Excuse my writing. I’m in a hurry.
