Dear Mother,

I visited Aunt Esther on my last liberty again and had a very nice time. I didn’t do very much except rest and read some of her husband’s books. We had plenty of good eats, strawberry shortcake etc. Esther’s place must be about fifty miles away from here or more but it only cost me one dollar and a quarter to go all the way down there and back. Those elevated trains go very fast. It only took me a little more than 2 hrs. to get there.

I have been feeling fine all the time (since) I was here, and I haven’t been bothered at all with a cold. We have very funny weather down here. It gets awful hot and then all of a sudden it turns real cold. We have had a lot of rain, and when it rains it rains.

We are going to go to Dearborn Friday so I will probably be able to get home pretty soon. Well I believe I will finish now. I will be able to come home pretty soon so I will talk about everything then so

With Love
