Dear Mother

I arrived here safe and sound last night. I was in the barracks a little after ten o’clock. That man that picked me up at the bridge took me to Lansing. He was going to Jackson. I got a ride from there to Detroit with a man that was a chief engineer for a branch of the continental motors. He is working on the Pratt & Whitney airplane engines. I had a very interesting conversation with him.

For A Good Cause: 1942 Hudson Super Six

This man had a brand new Hudson. He was going down Grand River and he left me off at Shafer Road. I got three small rides from there to the gates. I stopped at Shafer and Michigan and had a sunday etc. in a drug store.

Well I guess there isn’t much else to say except that it is awful hot. I have to stop now because it is just about time for the lights to go out.

So long and with love
