Thurs 7:00 A.M.
Dear Folks:
Well I guess I better write you today. I am moving over to pre-flight school today. It is only about a mile from where I now am.
I don’t know my new address yet. All I know is I will be in Group 13. I have everything packed and ready to go. All I have to do is eat my breakfast. We leave at 8:30. Our bunch is pretty much broken up. We are going into 4 different groups. Only three from my barracks are going to Group 13. There wasn’t anybody I cared very much about anyway so it doesn’t bother me. Fact is I am glad to get rid of most of these guys.
I will let you know tomorrow what my new address is and maybe today yet. I’m heading for the toughest part of it all as far as the work is concerned. They tell me that you are on the move all the time.
I got Dort’s letter yesterday and I got a letter from Ma the day before. I’ve been having a bad cold. I could hardly talk but it is a little better now. It’s the worst cold I’ve ever had.
Well write soon again. I can’t think of much right now. I had to walk the ramp yesterday. That is further instruction. We put our white gloves on and best uniform and march up and down the road for 1 hour.
There were 50 guys they picked for a detail. We were given less than 15 min to take a shower and change our clothes. 7 men got back on time. The rest of us were told to walk the ramp.
Love,
Alva
P.S. I may write again today.

Thurs. 9:00 P.M.
Dear Folks:
Well here I am at pre-flight school. This is going to be the toughest 9 weeks I’ve ever had especially the first 4-1/2 weeks. I will be an underclassman during that time.
We are being rode and rode plenty by these guys.
Don’t wonder why if I don’t write home for some time. We were told that we would be so busy studying etc. that we wouldn’t get time to write. I have very little time now. I will give you my correct address:
a/c Alva Bessey
San Antonio Aviation Cadet Center
Pre-flight School – Pilot
Gp. 13 Squadron I Flight A
San Antonio, Texas
Well folks I will close now. Tell Pug and everybody else that I won’t have time to write. But you folks write. I will write as much as possible.
With love,
Alva
P.S. We run every place.
We never walk.
