Dear Folks:

We have open hill today so I can write a few letters. We had guard duty last night so I am pretty sleepy and tired. It was a nice night last night so it wasn’t too bad.

Sunday night us lower class men threw all the upper class men into the showers. That is a custom here. We can do it just once. Boy what a time we had. We started at 9:30. About 5 or 6 guys grabbed upper class men and started off. They kicked and squirmed and yelled. What a racket we made. They were expecting us so as we came up the stairs they poured buckets of water on us, and when we got to the top they started spraying us with the fire extinguisher.

When we got done everybody was dead tired, beds were all over the floor, and the water was almost 2 inches deep all over the lower bay.

The next night we gave an entertainment for the upper class men. Some of the fellows imitated different upper class men. One fellow showed how to sleep 6 in. above the bed and he even “floated” through the air. And then we had a barber shop quartet and sang some old songs like “Down by the Old Mill Stream” etc.

Yesterday was “turn about day” from 11 until 2 and from 5 till 6 P.M. That means we could boss the upper class men around. They had to do everything we told them to do just like we’ve been doing for 4 weeks. Boy we really racked them back. I took special pleasure in racking back our flight lieut. He is a big tough boy. He weighs about 200 lbs and is all muscle. I will probably get it in the neck for the rest of the week but it was worth it.

Well I got a letter from you telling me that you got that money order.

Tomorrow we start on our upper class men studies. I had an 83 average as a lower class man. I should do better than that. I am beginning to get code a little bit now.

We don’t know just what the new set up is but I think we will have lower class men after all.

I suppose Jim thinks he is big because he has grown into my suit. Keep it up Jim.

I tell you Jim, being an a/c is just a lot of hard work and worry.

I guess Dort is doing better in school than I am.

So long,
Alva

P.S. I will have a picture for you soon.
Meredith are you growing any? I am. I just weighed myself and I weighed 165 (all muscle) and clothes.
