Corsicana, Texas
Dear Folks:
Well I’m back again. I went to town this morning. I came back about 2:30 PM.
About this clipping. I know some of these boys. The ones I underlined are here at Corsicana. Fact is Hample and Harris ride to the field in my bus sometimes. I met them going from Grand Rapids to Chicago.
Maybe I forgot to tell you. The field we fly off from is 22 1/2 miles from this one. We go over on the bus every morning and come back on the bus. That is all except the first man to go up in the morning. He takes off here and lands over there. The last one takes off there and lands here.
There must be a few bootleggers around. Some of the boys got drunk last night.
Boy oh boy it has been hot the last few days. When it is hot, it is bumpy riding in a plane until you get up pretty far. Yesterday for those stalls and spins we were up about 5000 ft. This week we will be flying in the afternoon. That won’t be so nice.
The corn down here is about 8 or 10 inches high. I don’t see as many tractors as I expected. What I see is 4 or 5 teams of mules on one field cultivating the corn with negroes driving the horses.
I guess I have run out of anything to say already. I’ll try to write in a couple of days. I just ran into another picture of me so I will send it along. I don’t need it I guess. And take notice what my correct address is. Well folks I better close now.
So long,
Alva
P.S. I should have had my picture taken with this black eye. Shouldn’t I? A.B.
