Dear Folks:
I guess I better drop you a line again. We have a little free time now. It is raining so we aren’t drilling. We flew this morning. It was a little cloudy but it didn’t start raining until noon. I was up for 56 min today. I have a little over 7 hrs now. I will be soloing soon (If I ever do). We can solo after 8 hrs, that is if we have 25 landings to our credit. I have only 6 landings so far. Today I did 2 spins and 3 or 4 stalls. We then practiced forced landings and a lot of other things. Those other guys seem to have bad days and real good days. I seem to just go along. I don’t have bad days or good days. Every day it is just fair.
I got a letter from you yesterday. Dort wrote part and Ma wrote the other part. I got a box of stuff from Pug the other day. I also got a letter with some snapshots of “Baldy.”
I sort of pulled a muscle in my leg yesterday while playing football.
That was a pretty good milk–dad’s $40 I mean. Was that for 2 weeks?
I don’t think you would like it here. The wind has been blowing all week.
6:30 PM Boy it really poured this afternoon.
The funniest thing happened today. This morning one of the fellows got lost. He had a new instructor. They ended up in a farmer’s field about 50 miles from here. He got 4 hrs in the air today. He didn’t get back until about 3:00 P.M. He started out about 7:30 A.M. It was really the instructor’s fault. They kept going until they were almost out of gas. The instructor then put it down in a plowed field.
Well folks, I’ll write in a few days and tell you more.
Well so long,
Alva
