Dear Folks:
You are probably wondering how come I am writing so early in the day. It has been raining the last couple days so we aren’t flying today. We didn’t fly yesterday either. But yesterday we had to listen to our instructors for a couple of hours. We asked them questions etc. But we had everything talked over so we didn’t even have to do that today. So all we do is lie around until about 1:00. Then we eat. Pretty soft, isn’t it? I could have got a lot of letters written yesterday except I spent all morning arguing about different things. I did manage to write a letter to Murell and one to Pug. I don’t seem to have the ambition to write very many letters. I don’t study either. And I spend all my time sleeping in classes.
I found out one thing yesterday. It seems that before we solo we must have a sort of check-ride. I think that is just for the newer instructors and mine is quite new at this place. Well the instructor told me that another fellow and myself are up for our check rides now. So it may be any day now. It must be that he figures I am about ready to solo.
It really poured the night before last. The ground is so wet that we can’t take off or land on the field.
But we have to make up for this time that we lose. We must have 65 hours in the air before we get done. So this rainy weather will put me behind schedule.
I guess that I have run out of material to write about for now. So I will close until this evening.
5:30 . Well folks I’m going to town tonight. I had to walk a tour this afternoon because of a mistake I made in my flight record. We had 2 exams this afternoon. I got 78 and 80 on them.
Yours truly,
Alva
