Dear Folks:

I guess I better drop you folks a line again. The day before yesterday I rode my U off. The one I got on my 30 hr check I mean. I gave the Lieut. a pretty good ride. He told my instructor that I used my head. That’s what he liked. I felt pretty good.

I am getting a lot of upside down flying now–snap rolls etc. I get a kick out of that. I expect to have my 40 hr check tomorrow. So I will probably have another U to ride off. I guess they are trying to make a check pilot out of me. I’m riding U’s off all the time so I should know something about check rides. It’s real hot down here. That sun and the flying just takes all the life out of us.

My, my the Bessey family is making good marks back home. Jim on the honor roll and Dort with A’s and B’s. If I could just stay awake maybe I could get good marks too. We had our final exam in engines today. I got 80 on it and I will get 7 more points for my drawings. We are supposed to get done flying on the 19th. We may get a little night flying too. Yesterday I ? my cross-wind landing stage.

I should write to Pug and to Murell too but I just don’t seem to have the ambition or time. Hope you folks are all well and healthy.

So Long,
Alva
