Dear Folks:
Well folks we had our last final exam in ground school today. I got 80 in the final in Aircraft Identification. I think I got 12 words a minute in code today. 8 words is all that’s required. I don’t know what I got in my weather exam. But that Aircraft Identification was what worried me. I’ve finished all my required flying. I took my last instrument cross-country today. Only there wasn’t any gyro instruments in the ship so I had to use needle ball and airspeed. This was pretty hard to do. But I ended up right over the edge of the field. This kid from Coopersville was my observer. We got back and then we went up and monkeyed around instead of going in and landing. We did slow rolls, snap rolls, loops, Immelmanns, and vertical snap rolls. He did some and then I did some from the backseat. We had a great time up there.
I see you got 2 new tires for the Ford. Was that brand new tires?
I think I will be going to Victoria, Texas. This is down on the coast about 300 miles south of here. It’s near Houston, Texas, I think. Well folks I can’t think of much to say now. I’ll close and write some in a day or two.
Yours truly,
Alva
