Dear Folks:
I imagine you wonder why I’m writing today. It’s like this. I got to wondering today. I can’t remember whether you told me you got that last money order I sent or not. I sent it Aug. 27 and it was for $50. Let me know about it. You probably told me but I just can’t recall.
We didn’t fly last night because the weather looked bad. We didn’t fly today because the ceiling was low and it was drizzling all day. We were supposed to fly tonight too but it was called off.
Oh yes while I think of it, how many bonds did you get from me since I’ve been in the army. When I get to be an officer, I will be required to buy at least one bond per month. I may sign up for a $50 bond per month if I think I can do it.
I shot 2 rounds of skeet today. Boy we are really going to have to do a lot of flying to get in all our required flying now. I guess next week those of us who get to fly them will start flying the P-40’s. I hope I get in on those. They have 1200 horsepower engines.
Today has been a cold dreary day. When we don’t fly the time goes sort of slow because they won’t excuse us from the line until almost 6:00.
Well folks I guess I’ll close for now. Oh yes I had my teeth cleaned today so I’m all finished with that old dentist.
Hope you folks are all well and good. How are Thomes and Downers and everybody around that country?
Yours truly,
Alva
