Dear Folks:
Well here I am again. I got 15 letters yesterday. I got 6 from you. I also got one from you today. I’ll see if you asked any questions.
Yes I have flown in several raids. Fact is I now have 20 sorties in. I haven’t any plane of my own yet.
Did Jim get to play enough to get a letter? I don’t imagine so. But with 3 years to go you have a pretty good chance Jim. Shucks Ma you just as well use some of this money I’m sending home and get yourself teeth and glasses too. Dad just as well to. Which reminds me, I’m sending another $100 money order in this letter. I just don’t get a chance to spend any money here. Just for curiosity I would like to know if I am near where Marsden’s came from. Did Elton and Rosella come down when they were going to?
We have chicken once in awhile but I just don’t care for it because of the way they cook it. Anyway it doesn’t taste right without mashed potatoes and noodles. The army seldom makes tasty mashed potatoes either.
No Dort the English girls aren’t very good looking. But I haven’t seen many because I never go to town. I can hardly understand the English. I’ve landed at a couple of R.A.F. bases and I had a hard time trying to make out what they were saying.
You’re not kidding I have to use my wits. But being a Bessey I make out pretty good on that score.
Because of a little episode today I was interviewed by a British war correspondent. He works for United Press. So if you can get some paper that their stories are in you might see my name. Probably past by the time you get this.
I sent my foot locker out again today. So let me know when you get the money order.
So Pug and Eddie sold their place. I think that’s a good idea.
How did Dort make out at her graduation? I remember way back when I graduated. That was a long time ago. Six whole years.
The Valedictory speech given by Alva’s sister at Comstock High School on June 2, 1944.
Well write and let me know all about the old place and all about all of you. I guess I won’t know the house when I see it again. Will I? I guess I’ll have to close and go to church. I don’t get a chance to go much because I’m flying sometimes.
Love to all,
Alva
