Dear Folks:
I guess I better write you a few words. I haven’t had much time lately. As you can see, I started to write last night but I didn’t get anything written. I have to go to school in a few minutes now.
I had 5 teeth filled Tues. and 2 more filled yesterday so the dentist is all done now except for cleaning my teeth Mon.
We’ve been shooting stages and flying formation the last few days. Yesterday we went up on oxygen formation. But when we got up to 10,000 feet I couldn’t make my plane go fast enough. I did everything I could think of but they still were pulling away from me. It gives a fellow an awful helpless feeling to have full throttle and trying to make the plane go and have the other planes leaving you. It made me feel like getting out and pushing. I finally got up to 17,500 ft. but the rest of them were about 500 feet higher and way ahead of me. So I spent most of my time flying by myself.
We start night flying any night now. We also start our cross-countries.
Well folks I guess I will have to close. There isn’t much to tell when I have such a short time to write in. It’s 9:00 and I just got back from school. I think we are about done with night classes. Fact is, we will be all done with school entirely about next week. Boy will I be glad.
Yours truly,
Alva
P.S. You better but Aloe A.A.F. on my letters. A couple of them went to Foster Field. That’s a few miles from Victoria too.
