Dear Folks:

I suppose the newspapers are all excited and you folks are reading all about the invasion. You probably know more about it than I do, because I don’t have time to read about it. All I know about it is my particular phase of it.

I sent my foot locker out a couple of days ago but it came back because it was 14 lbs overweight.

For now on I’ll be flying the wing of a fellow named Harry Stroh. He is a West Point graduate and the son of a Brig General. He’s a 1st Lt. about to become a captain I imagine. He lives in the same tent as I do. He’s a pretty good kid.

I just now got some mail. I got 2 letters from you, 2 from Pug, and 4 from Garnet. I guess you didn’t ask any questions. What do you do for an income now. Does Dad still work at the mill?

Well I guess I’ll close and go to bed. Got to get up early in the morning.

Love,

Alva

Harry Stroh was promoted to captain but was shot down and killed over France in August of 1944, the only son of Maj.-Gen Donald Stroh. Harry was promoted to Major posthumously.
