Johannes Kornoelje (1840-1917) and Cornelia “Katie” Barendse (1837-1902) married on May 11, 1867 in the Netherlands and arrived in the United States the same year and settled in Grand Rapids, MI. They had six children but only two lived to adulthood, their oldest Hendrina Hubrina “Anna”, and a son John. Anna married Martin Telder, parents of Joanna Telder (Holmquist).
Johannes and Katie Kornoelje had a general store on the SE side of Grand Rapids. In this picture (courtesy Sue Davis) behind the counter are Johannes and Katie Kornoelje. The man in front is their son John.
