September 12, 1918 was the third and final registration for all men 18-45. Below is a copy of Clarence Bessey’s registration card dated 12 Sep 1918. The card lists his age as 40 and his birth year as 1878. However other records list his birth year as 1979. The War ended two months later on 11 Nov 1918.
Alva was born in February of 1921. However, Alva was not born in Mecosta County where they lived. He was born in Day Township, Montcalm County. Did Ethel go to her sister Pearl’s home in Day Township to have her baby? Hinton Township and Day Township are about 22 miles apart.
